Born and raised in Voralberg, Daniela Preißegger moved to Vienna in 1992 . She studied at the University of Applied Arts and works now as an architect. Her artistic interpretation of everyday life, free from creative boundaries, seems to act as an antipode to her daily business, driven by the functional matrix of architectural requirements.
Symptomatic for her work: alienated humanoids and animal like characters mostly in an urbane surrounding. Although this sounds only little optimistic, her work actually turns out to be a Homage to the beauty of day-to-day life and to the esthetics of pure subsistence. Daniela Preißegger creates a straightforward, unsentimental world beyond our glossy ideals. She is a minimalist, and prefers to narrow things down to just a few significant elements, combining them to create new complex relations.
Her artwork is based on different creative disciplines from painting to photography. She translates her partly handmade work into bits and bytes and uses the vast variety of booming digital techniques, to reorder them, to fit things together in new, stunning coherences and completes the work by repainting or printing the results once again as silk screen or high quality digital prints.
