Born in southern Germany, Simon Froehlich finished his studies of photography in Vienna in the nineties. He started working for a number of photographers from Austria and abroad, mainly shooting advertising and fashion. To keep his creative balance, he travelled a lot and tinkered constantly on his own artistic projects.

His work is mainly inspired by graphic artists and illustrators like Dave McKean, Ashley Wood, Juan Giminez or Moebius, to name just a few. As an old school photographer the main part of his creative output is based on a profound knowledge of how to use an analog camera, the darkroom and various non-digital-tools. Recently Simon bought a computer though and is using it just to link the artwork to different printing devices, but never really to manipulate the authentic statement he wanted to make while taking the picture and deforming it in the darkroom.

Simons first solo show “DISTORTED” is the consequent follow up on several group exhibitions and published work in various European art magazines and alludes to his passionate relationship to nature and the friction between civilization. The exhibition of the Vienna based artist contains over 70 limited edition prints.
