SLICK AND BASIC / VERNISSAGE 15.10. – 18h

“The Medium is the Message”
Marshall McLuhan

The focus of the exhibition is set on an artistic contention with the commodity T-shirt as a medium of modern communication.

A multitude of national as well as international contemporary artists of different disciplines as graphic design, photography, fine arts, architecture and new media represented by Daniela Preissegger (Vienna), Antonia Kühn (Vienna), Naja Conrad-Hansen (CPH), Simon Fröhlich (Vienna), Manuel Gras (Vienna), Heidi Popovic (Vienna), David Mascha (Vienna), Matt Cipov (USA), Emanuele Sferruzza (I), Salva G. Torres (BCN) and the remarkable creative work by the graphic designers Valence (Vienna) is showcased.

The exceptional show points out the fact that nowadays there seems to be nothing which is not present as logo, advertisement or as a similar commercial statement, especially on T-shirts. Against the background of the predominant present visual construct of reality, respectively the unreal approach to reality by wearing apparel shows the controversy challenge of dealing with the subject of art on a non artistic object, such as a T-shirt.
The art space puts contemporary artwork in comparison to the art put on T-shirts and enables a direct interaction concerning their message and impact in a comprehensive context.
