She adores art; she can always be found in museums and art galleries around the world, drawing in her small sketch books. She does this for hours as if the time stops as she enters into the world of each art work.
Julia started creating when she was 14 years, at first she made very colorful necklaces that began to be worn by many artists and in fashion people of Rio… Later she opened her atelier, aMargarida, with the costume designer Reka Koves and there they create together one a kind exclusive dresses and Julia take care of all their graphic design as well.
This entrance into the fashion world brought new projects; Julia created children’s patterns for the decoration store Mi Casa tu Casa, photographed the label Martu’s winter collection, drew a collection of exclusive All Star tennis shoes for the store My Philosophy, designed a t-shirt collection for the Australian label Carioca Salt, designed yoga designs for the label Zen People, and she was assistant design editor of Omar Salomao’s book àDeriva
Julia recently designed the illustration for Mar Ipanema´s Cd cover, which is a compilation of various singers from the new generation of Brazilian artists.
In 2005 her drawings from her sketch book were drawn on sneakers and became a must on the streets.
First the sneakers were only worn by her, then by friends, then friend’s friends and from there on. Julia has drawn more then 500 pairs of sneakers in the past year.
These shoes are drawn all by hand with special markers making each pair unique. Inside each right foot there is a special inspiring message for you to read, and on each left foot Julia places her signature, her crown.
In times were graffiti has become a very popular media, Julia uses the canvas of the sneakers as a canvas of a painting in her own personal way, as a form of expression.
Her sneakers drawings are know in exhibit in different galleries on Europe, she has already shown them at Advanced Minority Gallery in Vienna, and at Rojo Art Space in Barcelona. She uses only Converse shoes, since she is now sponsored by Converse Brazil.
And the latest of her work is now on canvas and belong to some important contemporary art collectors in Europe.
Julia is diverse.. She transits from one media to the other and captivates people by her smile and kindness.
