Germany

Being born in southern Germany, Simon Froehlich has finished photography school in Vienna in the nineties, and had decided to stay. He worked for a number of photographers in Austria and from abroad. Mainly working in the fields of advertising and fashion, his own work has gone a lot more into arts because he didn’t find it very inspiring to shoot models and fashion or try to sell cellular phones to kids.
Trying to have a break of all that and relaunch his own ideas, he spent 12 months in Argentina between 2001 and 2003 mainly on the road in Patagonia shooting landscapes which can be seen on “myspace” and as well here in the near future.
He was very much inspired by graphic artists and illustrators, especially working on comics and graphic novels like Dave McKean, Ashley Wood, Juan Giminez or Moebius to name just a few, and since he has worked as a photographer he concentrated on his analogical tools, camera and darkroom.
Recently Simon bought a computer………
